We do not collect, store, or share your personal data, browsing history, or API keys on our servers. LingoWeave is designed to be privacy-first and operates primarily on your local device.

A. User Settings and Library

Your preferences (e.g., native language setting) and your saved vocabulary library are stored locally on your device using Chrome’s storage.local API. This data never leaves your browser unless you explicitly export it.

B. AI API Keys

If you provide your own API Key (e.g., Google Gemini or Zhipu GLM-4), it is stored securely on your local device. We do not have access to your keys, and they are only used to authenticate requests sent directly from your browser to the AI provider.

C. Text Explanations

When you select text and request an explanation:

  1. The selected text and its immediate surrounding context are sent directly to the chosen AI Provider (Google or Zhipu AI) to generate the explanation.
  2. This data is processed according to the respective AI provider’s privacy policy.
  3. We do not intercept, log, or store this text on any LingoWeave servers.
